How To Choose Your Workplace?

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

Whether you work to live or live to work, you need to make the right choice when joining a new workplace.

Some say to get to know the manager before the interview. Some others say get to know the company culture before you join them.

Leaders have a direct impact on the overall company culture. So what do you do when leaders change right after you join? Managers can change, in case you like them and join the organization. What if you end up with a nasty one?

The opposite is also true for each of the above cases. We cannot know enough in either case beforehand.

Nevertheless, the choice at the end of the day is yours. Also, do you think it’s about your manager or the organization?

Today, we know better. A job is in itself a great privilege. Millions do not get to choose the job they want. They take whatever they can get.

How to choose a workplace when you can?

Be truthful about who you are to yourself and others.

God created us with a conscience. Be careful not to mess with it. When you exercise truth daily, you will know how wonderful it is. Most importantly, how empowering it is for your mental and emotional well-being. Only the truth can keep us free spiritually.

Being truthful requires living on sound, defined moral values, and principles that care for you and others. Companies have core values, and today we see them preached more than ever. The pandemic has pushed companies to go beyond the “strictly business” mode. Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality (DIE) have become mainstream conversations today.

Stay focused on the Why When You Choose Your Workplace.

Remind yourself that you are living for a higher purpose. Your life is more precious than any job loss or situational crisis. It is hard, yet this is the truth. Our feelings matter, but not above the truth of who we are as human beings. The world needs each one of us. We matter to the world we are in, no matter what you think you may lack. What is your Why?

People are NOT the Enemy

Managers are people. There is no point in reacting negatively or hosting negative feelings against any person. Everyone has a story to tell. If you cannot make amends with your manager, move on, or request a change in team wherever possible.

Every Company thrives on profit-making. Its first love is money. No matter how you get treated, choose to stay or leave. No matter what, give your best till you are there. Leave amicably, in peace.

Maintaining a culture centered on care and love is asking too much from a system where knowledge gets glorified. Where money gained is the no.1 priority. It’s what it is. The pursuit of profits has a troubled man for a long time, no point in losing your mind and heart over it.

A career should never define life’s choices or standards.
